How to do the color fastness test to washing

Color fastness to washing is the common quality parameter, which is considered very important from the point of view of consumers. This test determines the loss & change of colour in the washing process by a consumer and the possible staining of other garments or lighter portion that may be washed with it.

The color fastness testing to washing
First, the purpose and principle:
1, this test method is applicable to the detection of conventional home or commercial washing process for home textiles washable color fastness
2, this test method for washing color fastness test for does not reflect the conventional commercial washing process added by the utility of brighteners.
3, a single wash test (STest) results with a home or commercial wash effect.

Second, the preparation before the experiment:Cut the sample size of 40mm100mm and multi-fiber cloth, and along the sample and a short edge of the multi-fiber cloth and the multi-fiber cloth face to face sewing together.

Third, the equipment and materials in the test:
1, Launderometer or Washwheel or other similar performance of the washing machine (equipped with thermostat, the water temperature maintained at ± 2oC or less, the operating speed of about 42 ± 2r.p.m)
2, stainless steel balls with a diameter of about 0.6mm
3, the capacity of 550 ± 50ml standard stainless steel bottles
4, SDCDW or No. 1 standard multi-fiber cloth
5, distilled water or deionized water
6, ISO / BS standard fade gray and stained gray one of the various.
7, the standard light source
8, electronic pounds
9, WOB or ECE detergent
11, sodium perborate
12, Sodium Carbonate
13, sodium hypochlorite or Clorox solution
14, acetic acid solution (concentration of 1L solution containing 0.2g glacial acetic acid)
15, sulfuric acid solution (concentration of 294g / L)
16, potassium iodate solution (concentration of 120g / L)
17, standard sodium pentaerythrite solution (concentration of 0.1mol / l)

Fourth, the test reagent preparation:
1, A1S / A1M / B1S / B1M items required for the configuration of the lye: 4g detergent dissolved in 1L distilled water or deionized water. Configured to test the required lye.
2, A2S / B2S items required to test the configuration of lye: 30 minutes before the test before the 4g ECE detergent and 1g sodium perborate dissolved in less than 60oC of warm water, configured to test the required lye.
3, C1S / C1M / D1S / D1M / E1S items required to test the configuration of lye: 4g detergent dissolved and about 1g of sodium carbonate dissolved in 1L distilled water or deionized water. The solution was then cooled to 20 ° C and the PH value of the solution was measured to be 10.5 ± 0.1. If not, the pH of the lye was adjusted to 10.5 ± 0.1 with acetic acid and 0.1 N sodium hydroxide solution Test the required lye.
4, C2S / D2S / E2S items required to test the configuration of lye. Wait 30 minutes before the test will be heated in accordance with the configuration of the alkali in step 5.3 (but the water temperature can not exceed 60oC), then 1g of sodium perborate dissolved in the solution, configured to test the required lye.
5, D3S / D3M items need to test the configuration of lye. Prepare 1L of the base solution in accordance with Step 5.3 and add the appropriate sodium hypochlorite solution or Clorox solution so that the Cl content of the lye is 0.015%.
Fifth, the procedures in the trial:
1, D2S / E2S item test: the washing color fastness test machine test temperature adjusted to about 60oC, will be equipped with 50ml of lye stainless steel cylinder into the washing machine, turn on for several minutes, so that the lye temperature reaches about 60oC, and then as required Place the test temperature of the test instrument, the multi-fiber cloth and the stainless steel ball into the stainless steel cylinder, and adjust the test temperature of the washing machine to the temperature required for the test and heat the temperature of the water and lye in the tester within 10 minutes to the test The required temperature. Then set the washing time of the washing machine, start washing.
2, other items test: according to the test requirements to adjust the test temperature of the washing machine, will be equipped with 50ml of lye stainless steel tube into the washing machine, boot a few minutes, so that the temperature of the lye to test requirements, and then Samples, multi-fiber cloth and stainless steel balls into the stainless steel tube, and then set the washing machine wash time, boot washing.
3, after washing, the sample and multi-fiber cloth out, in the 40oC of distilled water or deionized water twice.
4, the sample and multi-fiber cloth in the excess water removed, and then separated them flat, no more than 60oC in the natural dry environment.5, in the standard light source with the standard gray scale on the sample color and multi-fiber cloth stains were rated.

  Sixth, after the report:
  1, test method
2, the sample of the color change level.
3, multi-fiber cloth on a variety of fiber stains.

Tinuvin 1130: An Excellent UV Absorber

In the field of the chemical industry, UV absorbers play a crucial role, particularly in protecting materials from UV damage. Today, we will delve into a highly regarded UV absorber—Tinuvin 1130. Tinuvin 1130 : chemical name: 3-(3-(2H-benzotriazole-2-yl)-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butyl phenyl)propionic acid polyethylene glycol 300 ester; CAS login number: 104810-48-2. This product is an exceptional UV absorber that offers numerous benefits due to its unique properties. One of the standout features of Tinuvin 1130 is its excellent weather resistance. It has a strong ability to absorb ultraviolet rays, particularly those with wavelengths ranging from 290-400nm. This effectively prevents coatings, plastics, rubber, and other materials from being damaged by UV rays, thereby maintaining the performance and appearance stability of these materials and extending their service life. In addition, Tinuvin 1130 exhibits good compatibility. It is easy to emulsify in water-based systems and can be...

Air-cooled Xenon Lamp Aging Tester

The air-cooled xenon lamp aging tester is a device that uses an air-cooled system to dissipate heat and a xenon lamp to simulate ultraviolet light, visible light and infrared light in natural sunlight to perform accelerated aging tests on materials. It is commonly used in industries such as automobiles, coatings, plastics, rubber, and textiles. It can evaluate the aging resistance of materials under the combined effects of long-term light, temperature, humidity and other environmental factors in a relatively short period of time, helping companies improve product quality, extend service life, and optimize product anti-aging formulas and processes. Structural composition:  The main body is a test chamber, equipped with a xenon lamp and a matching optical filter system to simulate sunlight of different wavelengths, as well as temperature, humidity, lighting time and other control and adjustment devices, as well as an observation window and a sample rack. Working principle: The...

The Structure of Hexapod Tumble Tester

The Hexapod Tumbler Tester is a popular apparatus used in the evaluation of the appearance retention of carpets. Drum – constructed of Nylon or other like material and capped by a lid that is secured by a latching device. The drum and lid have a locating groove to hold the specimen backing sheet flat to the inner wall of the drum. A photograph of a typical drum is show in Photograph 1 and Photograph 2. The drum dimensions are:   Internal Diameter: 12 ± 0.18 in. (302 ± 5mm) Wall Thickness :0.3 in. approx. (8 mm approx.) Internal Depth: 8.2 ± 0.2 in. (207 ± 5 mm)  Driving System - cradles the drum on rollers and keeps the axis of the drum level, and rotates the drum at 35 ± 2 rpm (3.6 ± 0.2 rad/s). The driving direction reverses after approximately 500 revolutions.  After the 500 rotations the unit will stop and stand stationary for approximately 5 to 15 seconds, then begin rotating in the opposite direction. After 2000 rotations the unit will stop and w...
