The Color fastness test to washing

The Color fastness test to washing is used to predict the performance of any dyed or printed textile product to the common washing  process using a detergent and additives. Some of the test conditions in ISO and all the AATCC conditions are designed to simulate the behaviour of the textile after 5 domestic or commercial launderings.

The test machine :

Preparation of the samples:
the sample has to be tested in the delivered condition; don’t wash and/or tumble it before testing
it has to be used only multifibre from James Heal
the washing solution has to be prepared freshly (one litre)
the current liquor ratio (liquor/sample) is 20:1
we do not accept below mentioned specimen prepared in wrong way:
 A) extra stitches (like overlock stitching ect.)
 B) additional fabric
 C) incorrect multifibre

Test procedures for Washing Fastness:
1、Take two pieces of fabric about 5cm by 5cm, one of which is undyed cotton and the other undyed wool. Stitch them together along one side.
2、Take some sample strips of the dyed yarn and spread them evenly between the two pieces of cloth so that they overlap both sides. If dyed fibre is being tested a combed sample can be used in place of the yarn.
3、Sew around all four sides of the cloth so that the yarn is held in place.
4、Prepare a similar specimen with dyed materials that has satisfactory properties and place them in two jars with screw lids containing a solution of 5gm per litre soap or detergent solution at 30oC.
5、Agitate the two jars gently for 30mins, then remove the fabrics and wash them gently in clean water for 5mins. Open the stitching and separate the pieces to dry in air. Examination:
6、Place the dyed yarn next to a sample of the same material which has not been tested, and compare the change which has taken place. Compare also with the control sample with satisfactory properties. If the dyeing being tested shows equal or less change than the satisfactory sample, then it is as good as the satisfactory sample.
7、Place the wool and cotton cloths next to samples of the same material which have not been tested and compare them with the cloths that have been tested with a satisfactory dyeing. Equal or less staining shows equal or better fastness.

Multi-Functional Scratch tester For automotive interior materials

Multi-Functional Scratch tester is applicable to all types of wiping performance test of automotive interior materials; test equipment integrated three domestic standards (fingers scraping method, a hundred grid method, and plastic scraping finger scraping method).         Scratch tester is an electronic instrument capable of measuring critical load, adhesion, scratch resistance and bond strength for a wide range of surfaces. Scratch tester measures the scratch resistance of a sliding and moving surface in the relative motion to a stylus. The stylus is forced/pressed against the moving surface with precise controlled force which is normal to the surface and tangential force at the contact has to be measured.         Scratch tester can be utilized for all type of industrial coating from the plasma layers used in semiconductor and optical technology used in decorative coatings used for automotive and consum...

Reveal the standards for textile breathability testing and let you understand it in seconds!

Reveal the standards for textile breathability testing and let you understand it in seconds! Breathability testing is a measure of how much gas can pass through a textile. However, there is no single "optimal" air permeability value, as it depends on the specific circumstances in which the textile is used. For example, if it is used to make sportswear, it is hoped that it has good breathability; if it is used to make insulating clothes or warm clothes, it is hoped that it can block the cold well. Therefore, when testing the air permeability of textiles, the purpose of using the textile must be clearly understood in order to obtain reasonable values. In order to accurately and quickly test the true breathability performance of a sample, specially designed and developed instruments must be used. Testing methods generally include: fabric thickness (Thickness), fabric density (Density), fabric water absorption rate (Water Absorption Rate), evaporation and mass transfer (Moistur...

Automotive materials and components testing

Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) demand the highest quality components throughout the supply chain. Every automotive material and component must undergo rigorous testing and meet the highest industry and legal requirements. Qinsun-Lab assists manufacturers and suppliers with independent assured testing services against a wide range of OEM testing specifications, national (BS, ASTM, DIN, JASO) and international (ISO, EN, SAE) standards. SATRA’s testing services are accredited to ISO 17025. Flammability Motor vehicles contain components that burn if subjected to a large enough ignition source. These include seat upholstery, headlining, trim panels and floor coverings. Qinsun-lab can conduct a range of flammability tests including FMVSS 302 and ISO 3795. Abrasion and Scratch Tester Automotive materials experience mild abrasive actions from users entering the vehicle and being seated while driving or travelling. Qinsun-lab has a range of tests including Mar...
